
Stop the Bathroom Mold Battle with Infrared
Most bathroom heaters are just about not shivering while you towel off. But we wanted something that actually does some heavy lifting. We designed our high-ceiling infrared lamps to do more than just warm up the air—they actually target the moisture clinging to your walls to stop mold before it even starts.
How it actually works
Here is the thing about standard heaters: they warm the air, but that often just pushes condensation onto your cold walls. It’s a losing battle. Our shortwave lamps take a different route. They send out radiation that gets right into the surface of your tiles and grout. It makes the water molecules vibrate, which basically forces the moisture to evaporate right where it sits. When you mount these on a high ceiling, it creates a heat gradient. The dampness moves away from the cold walls and heads toward the ceiling, where your vent can actually suck it out. No more stagnant, soggy air. No more mold.
The nitty-gritty (and the catch)
To make the heat actually reach the floor from a high ceiling, we use quartz envelopes and halogen filaments. It’s the only way to ensure the warmth doesn’t just disappear into the rafters. But, a quick heads-up:these pull a lot of power. They put a much heavier load on your electrical system than a cheap space heater. If you’re putting these into an old house, please check your breakers first. You can’t just plug these into a low-amp circuit or you’ll be sitting in the dark pretty quickly.
Keeping them running
These are built for the steam and splashes of a bathroom, but the seals have to be perfect. If a leak gets into the housing, the filament will burn out way too soon. Also, give your reflectors a look every six months. If dust or soap scum builds up on that mirror finish, your heat throw drops. The lamp then has to work harder and run hotter, which just kills the lifespan of the bulb. A quick wipe-down saves you a lot of money in the long run.
