Here is the trick: most heaters try to warm up the air, which is a losing battle outdoors. Infrared is different. It beams heat directly onto you. It’s like stepping into a patch of sunlight on a winter day. You feel it instantly.
Dealing with Water and Dust
When you’re dealing with pools or outdoor showers, water is everywhere. If a few drops hit a standard heater, it’s game over. That’s why we build these to an IP66 standard. In plain English? It means the housing is tight enough to keep out dust and can handle a direct blast of water without blinking. We seal the electronics and the lamps tight so you don’t have to worry about a short circuit ruining someone’s morning.
The Nitty-Gritty Stuff
To make that “instant heat” happen, we use shortwave emitters. You don’t have to stand around waiting for a coil to glow or a fan to start humming. You just turn it on, and you’re warm. But we can’t just throw a lamp in a box. We use high-grade quartz glass and reflectors that push the heat forward. If we didn’t, the heat would just soak into the metal frame, which is a waste of energy. And since salt air and chlorine are basically acid for metal, we don’t use cheap paint. We use marine-grade finishes and heavy-duty gaskets. It stops the housing from pitting and rusting away after one season.
A Few Things to Watch Out For
Installing these is pretty straightforward, but keep an eye on your power. These units pull a lot of juice. If you crowd too many onto one circuit, you’re going to be tripping breakers all day. There is one catch, though. Because the IP66 seal is so tight, heat can get trapped inside the housing. If you tuck these into a tiny, cramped space and run them at full blast 24/7, the internals will basically bake themselves. You’ve got to give them some breathing room. Get the mounting height and airflow right, or you’ll burn out the lamp way sooner than you should.
