
Getting the Heat Right: Sidel Matrix Lamp Replacements
Here’s the thing about swapping out OEM lamps in a Sidel Matrix machine: it’s a nerve-wracking process. The biggest worry is always the temperature curve. If the wattage is even a tiny bit off, or the light spectrum isn’t quite right, you’re in trouble. Your PET preforms will either come out under-heated or—even worse—scorched. That’s why we build our quartz infrared tubes to be an exact match. We want them to be a simple drop-in replacement that just works. The trick to a steady temperature To keep your factory settings from going haywire, we obsess over the relationship between voltage, wattage, and length. You might find a lamp that looks identical, but if the resistance is slightly off, the heat density shifts. We spec our filaments so the watt-per-centimeter ratio mirrors the Sidel original. Why does that matter? Because it stops those annoying “cold spots” in the oven. Usually, when operators hit a cold spot, they just crank up the overall heat. But that’s a slippery slope that usually ends with deformed bottles. The nitty-gritty on materials We use high-purity fused quartz. It has to be tough enough to handle the thermal shock of rapid cycling without cracking. And we didn’t mess around with the connectors. They fit the original Sidel sockets perfectly. No rewiring the oven, no fighting with loose connections, and no headaches. Plus, we use specific halogen fills to sharpen the shortwave emission. This ensures the heat actually sinks into the PET wall instead of just searing the surface. A quick tip for the floor These tubes are built for high heat density and fast cycle times. They’re powerful. But keep in mind: running them at max output puts a lot of pressure on your oven’s cooling blowers. If those blowers are dusty or worn out, the ambient heat builds up and can kill your lamps early. Keep your airflow clear. Keep the quartz cool.
